Patrick Delcroix 

Patrick Delcroix

Patrick Delcroix, born in 1963 in France, was educated at the Centre de Danse Rosella Hightower, Cannes and at the Ecole de Danse Colette Soriano, Orthez, France.

For seventeen years he worked as a dancer with Nederlands Dans Theater 1 under the direction of Jiri Kylian and with many celebrated figures from the dance world including Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Matts Ek, Ohad Naharin, Edouard Lock, Nacho Duarto, Hans van Manen, Nils Christie and Johan Inger.  Before moving to NDT1 he worked with Scapino Ballet under the direction of Armando Navarro in Amsterdam and with the Iwanson Dance Company under Jessica Iwanson in Munich. 

In 2004 and 2005 he was a guest with the NDT3 for Birthday (Jiri Kylian), in 2006 he danced Ghosts from Cathy Marston at ROH2 and in 2007 he has created a solo for himself for the ARDT gala in Arnheim, Holland.

As a teacher, he worked at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, for eight years specialising in choreography and in NDT repertoire and has also taught Jazz Class at the Iwanson Dance Center. He currently teaches workshops and masterclasses in Prague and other established dance centres in Europe 

As a choreographer, he has created 25 works for nearly 20 companies around the world, including NDT 1, 2 and 3, Ballet Basel, Wiener Staatsoper, Capetown City Ballet, Cisne Negro, Ballet Prague, Introdans, Ballet Jazz de Montreal, Genève Ballet Junior and now for New English Contemporary Ballet.

In 2001 Patrick was knighted by the French government for services to the arts, being made Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

 

David FieldingDavid Fielding

David Fielding is an independent choreographer and former dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet and National Ballet of Portugal.Born in England in 1973, David trained at the Royal Ballet School, where he began to choreograph at the age of 11. Sir Kenneth MacMillan awarded him first prize in the inaugural Kenneth Macmillan Choreographic Competition in 1990 and he went on to win prizes at the Ursula Moreton Choreographic Competition in 1991 and 1993.

While still dancing with the National Ballet of Portugal, he was given the opportunity to choreograph on the company and has since created five ballets for them. These works led to commissions from Portuguese Contemporary Dance Company, Madeira Ballet Company, Cultural Centre of Belem and two independent filmmakers who were inspired to include dance sequences in their films. In 2001 he was invited by Peter Martins to participate in the New York Choreographic Institute’s fall session with dancers from New York City Ballet.

In 2003 David moved to London to begin a freelance career and has since created work for such companies and organisations as Dance Theatre of Giessen, ROH2, BalletX in Philadelphia, Ballet Central and Images of Dance, amongst others.  

David was invited for two consecutive years in 2005/2006 to create full-length narrative works, The Canterville Ghost and The Scarlet Pimpernel for the London Children’s Ballet while simultaneously coordinating and choreographing for the Royal Opera House’s Chance to Dance Project.

Alongside his career choreographing for international dance companies he works extensively with children, devising and leading creative workshops. He is involved with many aspects of outreach and education work for the Royal Opera House, Royal Ballet School, London Children’s Ballet and English National Ballet School.

David’s work has been performed in England, Scotland, Wales, Portugal, Germany, Greece and the U.S.A.

He was awarded a Rayne Fellowship for Choreographers in 2007 and has recently been appointed Artist in Education at the Royal Ballet School

 

Richard WherlockRichard Wherlock

Richard Wherlock was born in Bristol, UK. After studying at London’s prestigious Ballet Rambert School he joined their company as a dancer. Wherlock was Ballet Director at Hagen Theatre in Germany from 1991 to 1996, then spent three seasons as director of the Lucerne Ballet before moving to Komische Oper, Berlin as artistic director and choreographer of BerlinBallett. He has been director and head choreographer of Ballett Basel since the 2001/2002 season, and artistic director of the renowned festival, Basel tanzt, since 2004.

He has worked as choreographer with the companies Tanzforum Köln, Ballet de la Normandie, Scapino Ballet, Rotterdam, English Dance Theatre, Finnish Dance Theatre, Helsinki, Ballett Staatstheater, Braunschweig, Zürcher Ballett Juniors, Romanian National Ballet, Innsbrucker Ballett at Tiroler Landestheater, The Icelandic Ballet, Ballet National de Nancy et de Lorraine, Ballet National de Marseille, Ballet de l'Opéra de Nice, aalto ballett theatre, Essen, Europa Danse (Unesco), Ballett der Deutschen Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf, Singapore Dance Theatre, Ballett der Vereinigten Bühnen, Graz, Introdans in Arnheim,Holland, Ballett des Badischen Staatstheaters, Karlsruhe and Ballet Contemporaneo del Teatro, San Martin/Argentina. He has also created a full-length ballet for Les Etoiles de l’Opéra National de Paris.

His film and TV work includes the choreography for Claude Lelouch’s cinema production Hasards ou Coïncidences, presented in 1998 at the Venice Biennale and at the Montréal and Chicago festivals. In 2000, He eceived the Prix Italia for the award-winning dance film Passengers, produced by the Swiss broadcasting company DRS, RM Associates and 3sat. His most recent film success, One bullet left (also produced by y DRS) was awarded the Golden Rose of Montreux in 2003.  In 1999 he was nominated for the international dance award Benois de la Danse.

Richard Wherlock’s particular interest lies in supporting talented up-and-coming dancers. He serves on the juries of numerous international dance competitions.
