As part of our autumn programme New English Contemporary Ballet will stage a new version of the much-loved festive ballet The Nutcracker.  Our professional dancers will be supported by members of our Associates and Nottingham Youth Dance programmes. 150 young performers, all of whom attend schools from across the East Midlands, will have the opportunity to work on the creation and production of an entire ballet, then to appear as members of the cast in supporting roles to the dancers of the company.

To assist schools in fulfilling curriculum targets, pre-performance workshops will be offered to schools attending any of the performances.  These workshops will be tailored to suit the needs and age-group of the participants and might include practical demonstrations by dancers from the company, group talks on The Nutcracker and story-telling in dance and/or the creative and production process involved in the making of the ballet. Schools booking 50+ seats for any performance will receive a discount from our normal workshop prices (contact Jamie Thomson for details)
